Fabrizio Romano reveals 6 time title winner has been offered to Tottenham
As the summer transfer window nears its conclusion, Tottenham Hotspur have been presented with an unexpected opportunity to sign France international Adrien Rabiot for a significantly reduced fee.
Despite the potential bargain, Spurs appear unlikely to pursue the midfielder, as their priorities in the final days of the window remain elsewhere.
Frustration has been growing among Tottenham supporters, with social media filled with concerns about the lack of late transfer activity.
Many fans are beginning to lose hope that further reinforcements will arrive before the deadline, but reports suggest that clubs across Europe continue to offer players to Spurs in a bid to spark last-minute deals.
One such player is Rabiot, a decorated midfielder with a wealth of top-level experience, who could be available for just £13 million.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Rabiot has been offered to both Tottenham and Manchester United. The 30-year-old is currently at Marseille but appears set to leave before the window shuts.
Despite manager Roberto De Zerbi suggesting that the door is still open for him to remain at the club, Rabiot is expected to seek a fresh challenge, and Ligue 1 sources claim Marseille are prepared to part ways for a modest fee.
The Frenchman boasts an impressive CV, having won five Ligue 1 titles with Paris Saint-Germain and the Serie A crown with Juventus. His pedigree would normally make him a strong candidate for any Premier League club looking to add experience in midfield.

However, Tottenham’s focus in the transfer market does not seem to align with Rabiot’s availability. The club is believed to be concentrating its efforts on signing a creative number ten and a winger before the deadline passes.
There have also been whispers about the possibility of bringing in another centre-back, but there has been little to suggest that midfield additions are a priority for Thomas Frank.
The combination of Rabiot’s age and likely wage demands also makes him a less attractive option for a Spurs hierarchy committed to building a younger, more dynamic squad.
Away from the speculation over Rabiot, there has been some positive news for Tottenham regarding squad depth. Kota Takai, a summer signing from Kawasaki Frontale, is edging closer to a return after injury.
The 20-year-old Japanese defender joined Spurs in a £5 million move but has yet to make his debut after suffering a foot injury shortly after arriving in north London.
He missed all of pre-season and the club’s opening fixtures, but journalist Alasdair Gold has revealed that Takai has now resumed outdoor training at Hotspur Way. His recovery is progressing well, and he is expected to return to full first-team training soon, offering Frank another defensive option.
Takai was highly rated in Japan, winning the J League’s Young Player of the Year award last season, and his signing was seen as one for both the present and the future.
Spurs fans have been eager to see him in action, and his impending return will be a boost for a defence that has already been tested by injuries.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have started the first three matches but both have had fitness issues in the past. Van de Ven’s recurring hamstring problems remain a concern, while Frank has also been forced to turn to Kevin Danso in recent weeks.
With Radu Dragusin still recovering from an ACL injury, the return of Takai could not be more timely.
There is still the question of how Tottenham will manage their young defensive talents. Luka Vuskovic has impressed during Takai’s absence, and some reports suggest he may now be ahead of the Japanese defender in the manager’s plans.
The possibility of loan moves for one or both players remains on the table, particularly if Spurs succeed in bringing in another centre-back before the window closes.
For now, though, the focus is on integrating Takai back into training and assessing his readiness for Premier League football.
As for Adrien Rabiot, while his availability presents a tempting option on paper, Spurs seem unlikely to move for the Frenchman.
Their attention is elsewhere, and adding a 30-year-old midfielder with significant wage demands does not fit the profile they are targeting.
With just days left before the transfer deadline, Tottenham’s business is expected to revolve around strengthening the attack and shoring up the backline, leaving Rabiot’s future to be decided elsewhere.
