Tottenham Hotspur may soon find themselves back in the race for Savinho, as growing signs suggest that Manchester City could be willing to negotiate a January exit for the young Brazilian forward.
The idea of Spurs returning for a player they strongly admired in the summer is gathering momentum, especially after former Premier League executive Keith Wyness claimed that he expects movement once the winter window opens.
His view is that a fee in the region of £50 million may be enough to tempt City into agreeing a deal, even though Spurs’ summer proposal was closer to £60 million.
Savinho’s rise since arriving at Manchester City from Troyes in 2024 has been notable. His four goals and fifteen assists across sixty-three appearances show his ability to contribute consistently, even if he has not fully established himself as a guaranteed starter under Pep Guardiola.
The player’s talent has never been the issue; rather, it is the struggle for consistent minutes in a team stacked with world-class options. A move to Tottenham could offer him a fresh environment, a clearer role, and a chance to grow at a club that values attacking freedom and energetic wide play.
Keith Wyness, who has decades of experience running clubs at the highest level, believes that January represents the perfect moment for both sides to revisit negotiations.
Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, he noted that a number of Manchester City supporters have expressed frustration at Savinho’s inconsistency, though he insists the player’s quality should not be doubted.
Wyness argued that sometimes a talented young forward simply needs a different environment, new ideas, and a manager willing to build around them in order to flourish. He suggested that Tottenham could be the ideal destination, especially with the club pushing to refresh their attack after injuries and inconsistent performances this season.
According to Wyness, Spurs may find themselves in a stronger negotiating position than they were in during the summer. City are not desperate to sell, but they may now be more receptive to offers that fall closer to £50 million, including bonuses.
He believes the deal would benefit all parties, giving Spurs a creative and lively attacking option while providing Savinho the chance to restart his career with a club that can offer him more regular minutes.
The forward’s pace, directness and ability to create chances on the move could make him a standout performer in Thomas Frank’s system, which thrives on speed and fluid transitions.
However, while a winter move appears possible, Tottenham’s January plans may not be as straightforward as they seemed a few weeks ago. The pressure on manager Thomas Frank has intensified following heavy defeats to both Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.
