Tottenham Hotspur have now made a clear decision about Mikey Moore’s future for the rest of the season after weeks of internal discussions and a shift in plans behind the scenes.
According to sources, the club are no longer considering recalling the 18-year-old winger from Rangers in January. Instead, they are now comfortable allowing him to remain at Ibrox until the end of the campaign, believing his development is finally moving in the right direction.
Moore’s loan spell in Scotland did not begin the way anyone expected. Under Russell Martin, he struggled to earn meaningful minutes and looked far from the confident young talent Spurs believed they were sending out to gain valuable first-team experience.
Those early weeks raised concerns within Tottenham, who were worried that the lack of playing time would stall his progress. As a result, the club began preparing for the possibility of recalling him in January and sending him to a Championship side where the level of competition and style of football might suit him better.

However, everything changed when Danny Rohl arrived at Rangers. The new manager immediately showed more trust in Moore and gave him the platform he had been missing.
His involvement increased, and he began to show signs of the promise that excited Spurs in the first place. Sources now say Tottenham are pleased with the direction of his development under Rohl and see no need to disrupt his momentum. They expect Moore to remain heavily involved for the rest of the season as long as he stays fit.
Moore has had to deal with a minor injury setback recently, but he returned to action in Rangers’ 3-0 victory over Kilmarnock last weekend, coming off the bench to score the third goal. It was a moment that highlighted his growing confidence and his ability to make an impact, even in limited minutes.
That goal followed another strong display in the win at Dundee in November, which had been his final appearance before the injury. With goals in consecutive matches, he is now producing more end product than during the early stages of his loan spell, when he had only one assist to his name under Martin.

This surge in form is one of the main reasons Spurs have abandoned plans to bring him back early. The club has recognised how dramatically his situation has improved, and they believe this new environment where he is trusted and given attacking responsibility is exactly what he needs at this stage of his development.
Rohl has already handed him three starts since his arrival, and that level of involvement is something Tottenham considers essential for Moore’s growth.
It is not only Spurs who have noticed the change. Rangers supporters, who were initially critical of Moore during his shaky early performances, have softened their stance. As his confidence has grown, so has the appreciation from the fanbase.
His display in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic earned particular praise, with many supporters impressed by the energy and composure he brought into the match. Since then, goals and assists have arrived more consistently, and the young winger is now seen as a valuable option in the squad.
Moore still faces strong competition for a regular starting spot, especially from Djeidi Gassama, who is also pushing hard to impress the new manager.
However, the lack of depth in wide areas at Rangers means Moore will continue to have significant opportunities to prove himself. This is another factor that gives Tottenham confidence that he will get the game time needed to continue growing as a player.
With Spurs now committed to allowing him to stay in Scotland for the remainder of the season, Moore has a clear path in front of him. He has the chance to take full advantage of the trust Rohl has placed in him and build on his recent form.
If he continues to work hard and maintain this upward trajectory, he could return to Tottenham next summer as a more complete and confident player ready for the next stage of his career.
