Tottenham Hotspur’s growing connection with the NFL has drawn serious attention from some of the wealthiest investors in the United States.
With the club’s world-class stadium regularly hosting NFL games, it has become a natural attraction for American billionaires interested in expanding their sports portfolios.
Recent developments have fueled speculation that an NFL owner worth over £90 billion could explore a potential investment or takeover deal involving Tottenham.
Just last month, Spurs were approached by a US-based consortium led by tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick, who expressed interest in buying the North London club.
However, Tottenham quickly issued a statement confirming that they had “unequivocally rejected” the informal offer. Earick later announced that he would not be making a formal bid.
Despite this, insiders suggest that Tottenham’s ownership could still be open to discussions with the right investor particularly one with NFL ties and global sporting influence.
Football Insider recently revealed that the club’s owners might consider a deal involving an NFL franchise owner investing in Tottenham.

This would not only strengthen the club’s American connection but also expand its commercial potential in the US market. Spurs already have a long-term partnership with the NFL, which includes hosting at least two regular-season games each year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The 62,850-seater stadium was designed with American football in mind, featuring a retractable pitch and state-of-the-art facilities to accommodate both sports.
The partnership began in 2019 when Tottenham hosted its first NFL game between the Chicago Bears and the Oakland Raiders. Since then, the stadium has become the official home of the NFL in the UK, giving Spurs a major advantage in building relationships across the Atlantic.
Industry experts believe a US-based investor could take Tottenham’s NFL connection to new heights, even opening the door to hosting a future Super Bowl in London a dream scenario that would generate enormous attention and revenue.
Speaking to Football Insider, NFL reporter Charlie Wilson said he wouldn’t be surprised if an NFL owner decided to invest in Tottenham.
“Maybe they could be interested,” Wilson said. “We’ve already seen examples like the York family, who own the San Francisco 49ers and Leeds United, or Fenway Sports Group, who own both the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool.
American investors have been buying into the Premier League for two decades now, but it’s become much more common recently. Just look at Tom Brady at Birmingham, J.J. Watt at Burnley, or the Glazers owning both Manchester United and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Premier League’s popularity in America is growing fast, and so is the interest from US billionaires.”
Tottenham’s current ownership structure remains under ENIC Group, which holds an 86.91% stake in the club. Daniel Levy, Spurs’ long-serving chairman, and members of his family own a 29.88% share in ENIC, while the remaining 70.12% belongs to a trust connected to Joe Lewis’s family.
While ENIC has repeatedly stated that the club is not for sale, the global appeal of Tottenham and its modern stadium could eventually prove too tempting for a major investor to ignore.
Wilson also noted that some of America’s richest families, particularly those involved in major US sports, could turn to the Premier League if they miss out on opportunities at home.
“There’s a lot of money floating around over there,” he said. “Whenever an NBA or NFL team goes up for sale, there’s always a long list of billionaires trying to buy in. If they miss out, they could easily look at a club like Tottenham instead. The connection to the NFL makes it a perfect fit.”
One example often cited is Rob Walton, heir to the Walmart fortune, who led his family’s £3.7 billion purchase of the Denver Broncos in 2022. With an estimated net worth of around £94 billion, Walton could easily afford a major investment in a Premier League club if he ever chose to.
“We’re talking about people with tens, even hundreds of billions,” Wilson added. “They could easily look at Tottenham and see a business opportunity that links both sports. They already have the stadium partnership with the NFL, so it would make sense to build on that.”
The most recent NFL fixture at Tottenham’s stadium saw Walton’s Denver Broncos claim a narrow 13-11 victory over the New York Jets on October 12. Events like these continue to strengthen Tottenham’s transatlantic ties, ensuring that the club remains firmly on the radar of America’s elite investors.
Whether or not a takeover happens soon, it’s clear that Spurs have positioned themselves as one of the most attractive assets in world football a club where Premier League passion meets NFL ambition.
