€25m-rated ace linked with summer move, Tottenham ‘on his trail’

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on acquiring the services of Bologna defensive star Riccardo Calafiori.

The North London club are expected to make quite a few changes to their squad in the summer. While they will look to strengthen almost all areas on the pitch, reinforcing the defence will be one of the priorities and according to a report from Tuttosport, Riccardo Calafiori is a name that is quite high on their wishlist.

The report states that €25 million will be needed to secure his signature.

Things might not have worked out for Calafiori at his boyhood club AS Roma but he has managed to revive his career after parting ways with them. He left the Italian giants to join FC Basel in the summer of 2022. On the back of an impressive season at the Swiss club, Bologna ended up bringing him back to the Italian top flight.

Calafiori has been in exceptional form since making a comeback. He has established himself in their first team and has featured in 32 matches in his debut season. The left-footed centre-back has been a consistent performer in the heart of the defence and his work hasn’t gone unnoticed.

While there is a lot of interest in his services from clubs in Italy, Tottenham are ‘on his trail’. Ange Postecoglou wants more depth at the back despite having signed Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin over the last two transfer windows.

The Australian manager feels the need for another centre-back to help compete with the best teams in the country. Calafiori could be a great addition to their ranks as he will help them in the short as well as the long term. The fact that he is versatile and can also feature as a left-back will be a bonus for the North London club who are closely monitoring him ahead of a potential transfer in the summer.
