Does not know anything: Pundit criticises Tottenham man after nightmare mistake in loss
Following Brentford’s crushing defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Saturday, Frank Leboeuf has chastised Sergio Reguilon, a Tottenham Hotspur loanee.
The Premier League leaders handily defeated Thomas Frank’s team, with Sergio Reguilon’s error in the first half resulting in the first goal.
Reguilon and Diogo Jota were sprinting toward the halfway line when Virgil van Dijk produced a clearance that seemed to take the Bees off guard. Darwin Nunez, a Spurs loanee, was the next outfield player closest to the Brentford goal, thus winning the ball was crucial.
Sergio Reguilon criticized after Brentford’s defeat
Reguilon, however, was completely mistaken. It seemed as if the Spaniard intended to attempt to volley the ball away. However, Jota was able to get his head on the pass because of it. Nunez proceeded to go through and chip a magnificent effort over Mark Flekken after that header.
Additionally, Frank Leboeuf told ESPN that Reguilon need to have handled van Dijk’s pass over the top much better.
“They were skilled players and had a strong defensive line, so I never felt in danger.” He said, “As the boys mentioned, Brentford gave them a ton of things.
“You have to watch how Reguilon attempts to defend the first goal.” He doesn’t even attempt to go for Jota’s header. Jota is very intelligent, proficient, and aware of precisely what has to be done. Reguilon, meanwhile, is clueless about his obligations. When the ball is in the air, he attempts to kick it with his left foot. Thus, it’s a bad dream.
Before the summer, Tottenham will be hoping he finds some form.
It seems that the left-back’s time at Tottenham is over as long as Ange Postecoglou is in charge. According to reports this week, Reguilon’s value is expected to increase by Spurs in anticipation of a possible summer permanent transfer.
Thus, errors such as the one that occurred on Saturday will have done Tottenham absolutely no good.
Reguilon is a good full-back, no doubt about it. However, it seems that his future employment will be where he finds his strength. When he attempted to create opportunities higher up the pitch, he was much more effective for the Bees.
It was not necessary for one of their defenders to give the Reds such a comfortable lead over the Premier League leaders.
