Danny Murphy thinks one player is finally starting to win over Spurs fans

Now that he has won over the Tottenham supporters, Brennan Johnson is playing with a lot more confidence, according to Danny Murphy.

Johnson has had a rocky start to his Spurs career, having left Nottingham Forest in the summer. The winger has failed to make the kind of impression that the Lilywhites had hoped for.

Some commentators have even gone so far as to say that the 22-year-old isn’t talented enough to start for a team that is targeting the Champions League (talkSPORT via HITC).

But in the last few months, the speedy winger has begun to pay back Ange Postecoglou’s confidence by making consistent contributions to the final third of games.

In Sunday’s 3-1 Premier League victory against Nottingham Forest, Johnson added another assist to his tally, bringing his total for the season to twelve.

The Spurs’ fan base is beginning to warm up to Brennan Johnson.

Murphy thinks the Welsh international is giving it his all now that he’s settled into his new home.

“Brennan Johnson is also looking really comfortable now,” the commentator observed on Match of the Day 2. More and more selections are giving him confidence, the fans are warming up to him, he’s scoring goals, and his whole game is growing better. He has more than meets the eye; he is more than a mere runner and more than merely swift.

In Our Opinion

Since the winger is so hard to read, the suspicion around Johnson early in the season is understandable. He is competent at almost everything an offensive player needs to be, and although he may lack certain remarkable qualities, he also lacks any obvious shortcomings.
