How Postecoglou convinced Chris Davies to join Tottenham – report

The Athletic have disclosed that when Ange Postecoglou contacted Chris Davies in the summer to discuss joining his coaching staff, the Australian left him very pleased with his vision for Tottenham Hotspur.

Unlike other managers who bring the same squad with them wherever they go, Postecoglou wants to work with a fresh group of coaches at each of his teams. He followed suit at Tottenham, where Davies was one of the players he brought in as the team’s new senior assistant coach.

The Athletic have now provided information on how Postecoglou persuaded the former Celtic, Leicester City, and Liverpool coach to participate in his Tottenham initiative.

According to the article, Davies was informed by the Spurs manager that he would be joining a different Spurs team from the one he had previously faced.

The Welsh coach reportedly was very touched by Postecoglou’s encouragement, with the Australian reportedly expressing complete support for his aspirations to become manager in the future and pledging to assist him in that endeavor.
