Mourinho tried convince spectacular player to leave Tottenham now but owners vetoed transfer

Mile Svilar, AS Roma’s nighttime hero on Thursday, is gradually proving why the Serie A team chose to back him in 2022, although José Mourinho had different ideas with Tottenham last summer.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the manager—who has since departed the Serie A team—turned to his old team in an attempt to strengthen the goalkeeping position since he wasn’t confident the young Serbian international had what it took.

Hugo Lloris, who was still with Tottenham at the time, was one of the goalkeepers that AS Roma pursued last summer, which is why “it’s no coincidence.”

Ange Postecoglou replaced the Spurs legend with Guglielmo Vicario after he made it plain at the conclusion of the 2022–2023 season that he thought his time at the team was done.

The player, who was then at Tottenham, was also pursued by Lazio, but neither team was able to finalize a trade, therefore in January he joined Los Angeles FC.

The club owners’vetoed the deal,’ refusing to alter the goalie position that had Rui Patricio as the starter and Svilar as the backup, which is why AS Roma was never able to sign the veteran.

Paradoxically, Daniele De Rossi did just that when he assumed over, allowing the 24-year-old an opportunity to shine, which is essentially what he has done so far.
