It is simple’: Stan Collymore tells £300k/week striker to join Tottenham, not arch rivals

Stan Collymore has weighed in on the future of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, suggesting that a move to either Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal or Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur could reignite his career.

Collymore believes Rashford might need to leave Manchester United to rejuvenate his career, expressing that while Arsenal could be a suitable fit, it is at Tottenham where the 26-year-old forward could truly flourish.

Rashford’s performance this season has been below par, leading some pundits to recommend his sale. With off-pitch issues and 17 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League, he has scored five goals and provided two assists.

Comparatively, in the previous season, Rashford notched up 17 goals and five assists in 32 starts and three substitute appearances for Manchester United.

In his analysis on CaughtOffSide, Collymore stated, “Rashford needs to be at a club where the manager is stable and not going anywhere anytime soon.”

He emphasized the importance of finding a manager who can spend quality time with the player, understanding how to bring out his best.

Collymore pointed out that both Arteta and Postecoglou could be good options, with Postecoglou potentially relieving Rashford of pressure and helping him rediscover his love for the game.

Collymore added, “Spurs are a massive club, and there’s no doubt about it, they are heading in the right direction again. So come on then, Rashford to Spurs, who says no?”

Despite these opinions, the author of the article expresses skepticism about Rashford joining either Tottenham or Arsenal in the summer of 2024.

The financial aspects of such a deal, including Rashford’s £300,000 weekly wage and contract until 2028, might not align with the preferences of the two clubs.

Considering Manchester United’s stature and Rashford’s key role in the team, the author suggests that any transfer fee demanded by United would be exorbitant, making such a move unlikely for Arsenal or Tottenham.
