‘Don’t be surprised’: Journalist suggests ‘world class’ Tottenham player could leave this summer

Tottenham Hotspur will have to make some substantial changes this summer.

Spurs fell outside the top four once again, and their late-season form demonstrated how many changes are required this summer.

Ange Postecoglou has made it obvious that he wants change at Tottenham, and Steve Kay, speaking on KS1TV, has hinted at a high-profile exit.

Indeed, the writer says he wouldn’t be surprised if there were some major exits from the Premier League this summer, mentioning Heung-Min Son as one player he believes may go.

Heung-Min Son leaving Tottenham would not be shocking.
Kay discussed Son and a likely Spurs exit this summer.

“Don’t be shocked if you don’t see any major players enter this timeframe. We’ve spoken about Salah remaining, but with guys like Eze and Olise around, they’re the future; Son and Salah aren’t,” Kay added.

Son is not growing younger

As much as it would be painful to watch Son leave Spurs, there is a logic to allowing the attacker go.

Son reaches 32 next month, and at that age, you are nearing the conclusion of your career.

The South Korean is still a brilliant player, but his time at the highest level is likely limited.

If Tottenham can sell Son for a decent price and replace him with a younger model, it would be a sensible financial decision.

Of course, letting Son go this summer would not be ideal in the short term, but given the way football teams are operated these days, the long term is often the major concern.

The ‘world class’ attacker remains one of Spurs’ most essential players, but this is something to keep an eye on in the coming summer.
