Bundesliga Winger on the verge of signing for Tottenham
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has come in with a quick update on Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba. The Italian journalist believes that any move for the 25-year-old would be a difficult trail for the Lilywhites.
The North Londoners did not end the recently concluded season by ticking off their Champions League qualification objectives, and they are looking at a massive summer overhaul to ensure a cultural change at N17.
Despite signing two central defenders in the last two transfer windows, it is expected that Spurs will be looking to bring another player into the position this summer, and Edmond Tapsoba has been one of the names linked with a move to White Hart Lane.
Tapsoba move deemed ‘super expensive’
The Burkina Faso international has been one of the most consistent CBs in the Bundesliga for a few years now, and that has emanated into interest from multiple clubs around Europe. While the Lilywhites are keen to secure his signatures, Fabrizio Romano insists that the overall expected financial outlay to bring the 25-year-old to N17 would be more than what Daniel Levy would want, especially with the club signing Radu Dragusin for a reasonable fee in the winter window.

Speaking about Tottenham’s potential pursuit of Edmond Tapsoba, Fabrizio said (via. GiveMeSport):
“For centre-back at the moment, I think they are very happy with Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven—so they could bring in a new centre-back, but it has to be a good opportunity. Also, they spent important money on Radu Dragusin in the January transfer window.”
“Edmond Tapsoba is super expensive. I think it is going to be difficult for Tottenham to return for last summer’s target because it’s really, really expensive.”
