Talented boy – Roy Keane approves of Tottenham’s piece of summer business

James Maddison, according to former Manchester United player Roy Keane, is a “good fit” for Tottenham Hotspur.

In June of last year, the 27-year-old made a £40 million transfer from relegated Leicester City to North London, which is turning out to be a very excellent bargain (Sky Sports).

Madison made a promising start to his Spurs career, but he was sidelined until late January due to an ankle injury he sustained during the team’s November loss to Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The England international has taken some time to return to his pre-season form, but he showed promise on Sunday, particularly in the second half of Tottenham’s 4-0 victory against Aston Villa, when he opened the scoring with a pinpoint cross from Pape Matar Sarr.

Prior to Tottenham’s game at Villa Park, Keane was questioned about Maddison’s transfer to the North Londoners when he was doing punditry work for Sky Sports.

“He’s a good fit for Spurs,” he said. His career statistics are excellent. Due to injuries sustained in the previous several months, it has taken him a little longer to recover.

“This boy has talent and seems to have some personality.” I appreciate that he is determined to win a cup and bring Spurs into the Champions League rather than settle for fourth or fifth place.

Ever since Christian Eriksen left the squad, Tottenham has been in dire need of a creative spark, and Maddison’s presence filled that need.

He has settled in nicely at N17, rising to the position of vice captain and playing a vital role in Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham first team.
