Ange Postecolgou hints at a brewing Tottenham Hotspur civil war

The last 48 hours has seen the Tottenham Hotspur fanbase turn toxic.

The media has not been shy to cover the differing viewpoints from Tottenham fans about whether or not they wanted to win against Man City. It is understandable that the media would press on this topic since it is absolutely absurd that any fan would want their team to lose, regardless of external narratives.

Ange Postecoglou has made his feelings VERY clear on the matter. As someone who has experience of managing one of the most heated rivalries (the Old Firm) in the history of the sport, he knows a thing or two about local derbies.

Yet, the Aussie himself does not believe that Spurs should sacrifice their own achievements to prevent Arsenal from winning the Premier League title. Why is that so controversial?

Ange Postecolgou hints at a brewing Tottenham Hotspur civil war

As per The Mirror, Ange Postecoglou pointed towards his observations over the last week. While he didn’t outwardly state, it seemed like a cry towards Tottenham fans to get behind their team, rather than cheering on Arsenal’s demise, who are likely to finish second place after Tottenham failed at home against the champions.

In his own words, Postecoglou said: “Outside, inside, everywhere. It’s been an interesting exercise. I’m just not interested mate [in Arsenal winning the league]. Maybe I’m out of step, but I just don’t care, I just want to win.”

Little do a small section of Spurs fans realise but Postecoglou is a serial winner. THIS is the exact mentality Tottenham Hotspur need to propel themselves forward as a club.

Fans can no longer focus on other clubs. They must get behind the team and the project in which Postecoglou is building, at ALL costs.

I must state that only a disappointing section of Tottenham fans celebrated the loss last night. The majority wanted their club to win and rightly so.

Fans who celebrated Tottenham losing to Man City and secretly hoped for that outcome heading into the match did not celebrate Arsenal (seemingly) losing the title race but instead, they celebrated their own team missing out on the UEFA Champions League next season.

It is a disappointing fall-off from the very start of the season where hope was in the air that Tottenham could actually win the Premier League themselves. It is a conflict of interest with the winning mentality which Ange is trying to instil and it must stop, before the impending Tottenham Hotspur civil war occurs.
