Tottenham Hotspur are set to part ways with midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer, with manager Ange Postecoglou giving the green light for his departure.

Hojbjerg, who has been linked with a move away for several months, has found himself falling down the pecking order at Spurs.

Under Postecoglou, Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr were preferred in midfield, reducing Hojbjerg’s role to that of a squad player. Despite making 36 league appearances last season, he only started 21% of them.

Hojbjerg has attracted interest from several clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Fulham, Juventus, and Napoli. Most notably, Jose Mourinho, Hojbjerg’s former manager at Tottenham, is keen to reunite with him at Fenerbahce.

Tottenham have reportedly set a £20 million asking price for the Danish international, whose contract expires next June.

Fenerbahce appears to be the most serious contender for Hojbjerg’s signature.

Discussions between the Turkish club and Tottenham are reportedly underway. Mourinho, who valued Hojbjerg during his tenure at Spurs, sees the midfielder as a key addition to his new team in Turkey.

Selling Hojbjerg would not only provide him with the regular playing time he seeks but also free up funds for Tottenham to invest in new signings.

With Hojbjerg entering the final year of his contract, this summer represents an optimal time for Spurs to cash in on the 28-year-old former Bayern Munich player.

As Tottenham prepare for the upcoming season, parting ways with Hojbjerg aligns with Postecoglou’s strategy of reshaping the squad.

This move could facilitate further strengthening of the team, while Hojbjerg looks set to reunite with Mourinho at Fenerbahce, marking a new chapter in his career.
