Agent of Tottenham target finally breaks silence after alleged £21m Spurs bid

Tottenham Hotspur target Sebastian Szymanski could remain at Fenerbahce this summer despite reports claiming Spurs have launched an official bid to sign him.

Reports from Turkey claimed Tottenham had lodged a £21 million bid for Szymanski, but the player’s agent has debunked the rumours, re-emphasising his client’s commitment to Fenerbahce.

The player’s agent, Mariusz Piekarski, was firm in his stance, claiming it’ll take an offer that ‘could not be refused’ for the 25-year-old midfielder to leave the Turkish giants this summer.

While Piekarski has shut down rumours of a £21m bid from Tottenham, he confirmed that a bid around that region would be enough to convince Fenerbahce to sell.

“I don’t know anything about Tottenham’s offer for Sebek,” Piekarski told Meczyki. “It’s a journalistic canard.

“For now, Szymański is staying at Fenerbahce. It’s possible that nothing will change in this matter. We have no pressure for a transfer at all.”

Szymanski could be a cheaper alternative to Eberechi Eze

Tottenham’s need for a creator to complement James Maddison in midfield is evident and the club have set their sights on Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze.

The England international has a £60m release clause in his contract, and Tottenham are well positioned to match the asking price, especially with Manchester City unlikely to make a move for the midfielder.

However, Szymanski could be a cost-effective alternative to Eze, and Tottenham should consider making a move for the Poland international.

The midfielder was in exceptional form for Fenerbahce last season, notching ten goals and 11 assists in 37 league appearances.

His creative prowess also caught the eye. He created a staggering 19 big chances, more than double Eze’s tally (seven) while averaging 2.1 key passes per 90 minutes.

Szymanski is predominantly an attacking midfielder and would be an impressive understudy for Maddison. He could also slot in at right wing when required.
