After Archie Gray, Tottenham still considering signing £75m player who Man United have decided is too expensive

Tottenham Hotspur remain in the race to sign a rumoured Manchester United target, according to a recent report.

Ange Postecoglou is expected to have a major reshuffle this summer transfer window with as many as 10 players departing the club.

Like all Premier League sides, Tottenham will have to trade to bring players in as Financial Fair Play rules seem to crank up a notch.

That said, they’re still exploring the potential signing of a highly sought-after and expensive Premier League player.

Tottenham still considering Jarrad Branthwaite

According to the Daily Mail (page 67), Tottenham Hotspur are still tracking Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite this summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks, though, they deem him to be too expensive after seeing their first bid rejected.

Branthwaite is expected to cost any forthcoming suitor £75m, so it remains to be seen if Tottenham will formalise their interest with an offer.

Manchester City also remain keen on the former PSV loanee.

Jarrad Branthwaite statistics

It’s easy to see why so many top clubs are interested in signing Branthwaite when you take a look at his impressive FBref statistics.

The 2002-born ranks in the top 18 per cent for aerial duels won per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe.

Further, he sits in the top 18 per cent for interceptions and 20 per cent for tackles, only amplifying how dominant he is at the heart of defence.

Branthwaite is also extremely proficient on the ball and being a natural left-footer, he’d give potential suitors great balance.

He’d be a brilliant acquisition for Tottenham but it won’t be an easy deal to do by any means.
