Sir Jim Ratcliffe sends Sheikh Jassim message amid Tottenham takeover talks
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new co-owner of Manchester United, made light of the situation by joking that he doesn’t think the man is genuine.
Sheikh Jassim, a self-described United supporter, has thrilled those who want an end to the Glazers’ dominance by suggesting a 100% takeover of the Reds. But in October, it was revealed that the Qatari financier had pulled out of the deal, stating that United’s American owners had never shown interest in a complete sale.
Sheikh Jassim has since been connected to a Spurs takeover as he looks for a Premier League team to invest in. Daniel Levy, the chairman of the North London team, said last year that he might consider quitting Spurs for the appropriate amount of money.
“I have a duty to consider any proposal that anyone may want to make, but I have no real interest in leaving Tottenham,” he said. It’s about what’s best for the club, not about myself.

“30,000 of our stockholders control around 13.5% of the company. This club is managed by us like a public corporation.
“The Tottenham board will take into consideration any meaningful proposals from individuals, in consultation with our consultants. We would also be open to anything if we thought it would benefit the club.”

Ratcliffe was questioned about Sheikh Jassim and why he thought his proposal was approved above the Qataris’ offer at a media call in Knightsbridge. In response, he said, “Actually, no one has ever seen him. He never met the Glazers; he never I doubt that he is real.”
Ratcliffe said, “No, they didn’t,” when asked whether it was true that the Sheikh Jassim bid did not provide evidence of funding. No.
“I’m not sure. They were clearly present, and their squad consisted of a large number of team members. I never got to meet them. “Yet, it was an extremely peculiar experience,” he concluded.
