He goes really really mad – Spurs star reveals Postecoglou’s mood over recent weeks
Dejan Kulusevski has acknowledged that the Tottenham players have seen Ange Postecoglou’s furious side a few times. The Australian isn’t hesitant to tell the players when he thinks they are playing it too safe.
In his first few months at Tottenham, Postecoglou gained popularity among the English media by showcasing his humorous side. However, in light of his team’s dismal performances, the Spurs manager has since shown a much more serious and firm side.
In his post-match news conference after their Saturday loss to Wolves, the 58-year-old—who has so far been very kind of his players—was quite critical of their performance (Football.London).
According to Kuluseveski, the former Celtic player chastises the players in private if they deviate from his game plan. The Swede further claims that the Tottenham manager’s remarks often cause the squad to respond angrily.
Regarding Postecoglou, the winger told The Sun, “He gets angry for sure.” There have been a few halftimes where he has let us know that he believes we aren’t trying hard enough to win the game, that we’re playing it safe, and that we’re not doing enough.
He becomes really irrational. However, it always works since we play better afterwards! It’s not enjoyable, but it’s a necessary aspect of the job; you can’t constantly treat players like babies; sometimes you have to treat them harshly, just like their parents. Since it ultimately benefits us, it is not frightening.
Ange is someone who allows the players to express themselves freely and does not pass judgment on them when they err while attempting to be positive, but he is also clearly quite rigid about his beliefs.
You can see him becoming upset on the sidelines when the players don’t always dare to play bravely and from inside.
