Does not need me: £60M Tottenham target now claims his manager no longer wants him

Despite Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy’s success at Tottenham Hotspur in January, it seems that they will have a busy summer.

Postecoglou has already shown that he is a manager worth supporting, and his project has great potential.

The new World Cup format is really insane!

And, considering that the Australian is still getting the most out of a team that is barely half his size, the next transfer window will be essential.

Perhaps those leaving will be just as important as those entering, with Spurs perhaps having to supervise a one-in, one-out strategy.

Bryan Gil and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are expected to leave this summer, and a decision on Timo Werner’s long-term future is also required.

Having said that, Tottenham has already been connected with one or two summer targets, including a potentially productive striker.

Postecoglou opted not to replace Harry Kane at Tottenham with another superstar striker last summer, but he may now pursue that successor in this manner.

And, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney said to be a leading contender, his comments after a victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday may pique curiosity.

Toney was asked to answer to Thomas Frank’s recent remarks on Match of the Day on X, in which he admitted that the striker was likely to depart this summer.

Toney will have just a year remaining on his Brentford contract at that time, making it logical for the London club to sell.

Toney, worth £60 million, responded cheerfully, concluding that his manager’s statements suggested he was no longer desired.

Toney stated: “I perceive that he [Thomas Frank] does not want me. Nah, the manager said what he said.

“Listen, I can’t make clubs come for me; I just have to keep doing what I do, which is score goals.

“Like I said, what will be, will be.”

Of course, it seems like Toney is jokingly informing interested teams that he will be available this summer.

Spurs, Arsenal, and Chelsea have all been linked with the England international.

While it will be difficult for any team to complete a deal this summer, Postecoglou is developing a fairly appealing concept at Tottenham.

And as the season comes to a conclusion and summer approaches, curiosity is unlikely to subside.

All that being said, Martin Keown was completely outclassed by one of Tottenham’s current strikers yesterday.
