Postecoglou give verdict on Tottenham’s out of favour duo

Ange Postecoglou recently underscored the importance for Tottenham Hotspur not to hinge their ambitions on the possibility of teams like Liverpool or Manchester City going through transitional phases.

Instead, he emphasized the need for Spurs to concentrate on their own pursuit of success. While addressing the media, Postecoglou also provided updates on the situations of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Bryan Gil.

Amidst speculation about Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Liverpool this summer and Pep Guardiola’s contract with Manchester City lasting until 2025, there have been suggestions that both dominant clubs might be entering transitional periods under new management.

However, Postecoglou dismissed the idea that Tottenham should rely on this potential scenario and urged them to focus on their own journey to success, expressing in a recent press conference, “If that’s your only hope, waiting for the top ones to slip, I just don’t think you get there.

I really don’t. I’d rather them be at their best, and we match them, get up to their level and exceed it, rather than hope they slip up.”

As the transfer window nears its conclusion, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Bryan Gil, who have struggled to secure starting positions under Postecoglou this season, have been linked with potential moves away from the club.

Postecoglou addressed questions about the future of the mentioned duo, stating, “As much as I’m steering this ship, they also have their own.

I speak to players about this all the time. It’s their careers, and they have to do what they feel is right as well. Whether that’s Bryan or Pierre who maybe feel they should be playing more…”
