Tottenham to make summer approach for £51M defender
Tottenham Hotspur has swiftly conducted business in the January transfer window, and while there’s potential for additional signings before it concludes, the club is already contemplating summer options.
Although Spurs were previously linked to Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo earlier this month, a report from 90min indicates that there are currently no plans to revive their interest in the player during this window.
Despite the current deal being inactive, there is speculation that Tottenham might revisit their pursuit of Todibo in the upcoming summer.
One potential drawback of this approach is the extended time it provides other clubs to pursue the highly-rated French defender.
While the addition of Radu Dragusin from Genoa in the current window strengthened defensive depth, further reinforcements are deemed necessary.
The ongoing injury crisis this season has emphasized the importance of having exceptional depth in a highly competitive football league. Some fans have expressed on social media that the club should focus on signing both a center-back and a full-back to enhance squad depth.
Todibo emerges as a potential solution for these defensive needs. At 24 years old, he boasts 118 senior appearances for Nice, making him eager for a significant move to a new club.
Interest in Todibo extends beyond Tottenham, with other teams, including Chelsea, reportedly engaging in talks with the player’s agents. Meanwhile, some clubs, like Juventus, have shifted their attention elsewhere in the ongoing transfer window.
The availability of Todibo in the upcoming summer remains uncertain, with various clubs expressing interest. Spurs are poised to keep their options open and are expected to monitor the player’s situation closely through the end of the season.
