Ange to land Son’s next Kane in Spurs swoop for £30M star who is on fire

Spurs have already added two new players to their team during the January transfer window, so they haven’t lost much time.

Timo Werner was brought in on loan from RB Leipzig until the end of the season, with the chance to make it permanent in the summer. Radu Dragusin, a centre back from Genoa in Italy, was signed on a permanent deal.

Ange Postecoglou’s team is currently battling to finish in the top four in order to play in the Champions League in 2024–25. They are currently three points behind Aston Villa in fourth place and need to finish in that spot in order to qualify.

During the summer transfer window, players like Brennan Johnson, Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, and Guglielmo Vicario were brought in to help the Australian head coach.

It looks like he wants to get a new centre forward soon, as they have been linked with a move for Feyenoord’s highly productive striker Santiago Gimenez.

Spurs want to find a number nine.
Football Insider said earlier this month that Tottenham was one of the teams that wanted to sign the talented young number nine.

The news source said that Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham, and Fulham are all interested in the amazing striker. However, the Hammers are said to be stepping up their pursuit of him right now.

People have said that Feyenoord doesn’t want to sell their star player in January. This is likely because they don’t want to lose momentum going into the second half of the season as they try to win in the Netherlands.

Additionally, the Dutch team would rather sell him at the end of the season because they think they could get more money from a deal with Spurs or Arsenal. They would rather not allow a transfer to West Ham before the end of the current window.

The news source also said that the talented custodian from the Eredivisie team would cost at least £30m and no more than £40m to sign.

Richarlison’s form has improved recently as he has scored six goals in his last six Premier League games. Before this run, the Brazil international had only scored two goals in 39 Premier League games for Spurs since the beginning of the season.

So, it’s still not clear if he will be a steady source of goals in the future or if this is just a short-term trend.

Lee Heung-min Over the years, Son and Harry Kane scored a lot of goals together, breaking records. Postecoglou could get Gimenez, the South Korean forward’s next version of Kane, by beating out other teams to sign him this month or at the end of the season.

The great teamwork between Son and Kane

The powerful duo that used to play together for Tottenham currently hold the Premier League record for most goals set by two players on the same team.

Over the years in North London, they scored 47 goals together in the Premier League, with Son setting up Kane and Kane setting up Son.

The two players also helped each other 14 times during the 2020–21 Premier League season, which is the most of any pair of players in a single seasonal record.

According to these numbers and records, they were very productive in the closing third when they worked together to score goals and set up others. They always put each other in dangerous situations to find the back of the net because they understood each other so well.

No matter if Son was playing with him or not, Kane scored 278 goals and set up 64 others in 430 first-team games for Tottenham. That’s an average of one goal every 1.26 games.

Son, on the other hand, has scored 157 goals and set up 85 others in 393 games for Spurs, which is an average of one goal every 1.61 games.

For some reason, the South Korean star seems to be missing the England leader this season. He has made 11 “big chances” but only received five helpers in the Premier League.

These numbers show why Gimenez might be Son’s next Kane

At the moment, Son doesn’t have a relentless scorer who can make the most of the great chances he creates for his teammates from the left wing.

It looks like Gimenez could be the dangerous number nine that Spurs’ winger has been missing since Kane moved to Bayern Munich, based on how well he has played for Feyenoord.

Analyst Ben Mattinson said the 22-year-old machine is “mobile” and has been “on fire.” He has scored 19 goals and set up 4 others in 17 Eredivisie games this season.

You can see from the table above that Gimenez’s play has improved since the 2022–23 season. He has also become more consistent with his scoring.

His non-penalty goals (0.96) and non-penalty xG (0.79) per 90 over the last 365 days put him in the top 1% of players in the Men’s Next 14 events (other than the Men’s Big Five Leagues).

In the Eredivisie this season, the Mexican star has scored 19 goals from 15.08 xG, which shows how incredibly effective he has been for the Dutch team.

This shows that Gimenez has what it takes to make the most of Son’s talent, just like Kane did, as long as he can learn English football and play as well in the Premier League.

The number nine with the left foot has also set up five “big chances” and had four assists in 17 league games for Feyenoord this season, showing that he can also help his teammates score.

Because of this, the £30 million-rated genius could be Son’s next Kane because he can both finish chances cleanly when they come his way and be clever enough to set up the South Korean superstar to score himself.
