Spurs youngster attracting interest from Serie A but is desperate to prove himself to Ange
Alasdair Gold in London said that Troy Parrott is still eager to show himself at Tottenham Hotspur, even though he is getting a lot of attention from other teams.
Over the last few years, Parrott has had trouble reaching the heights that were expected during loan spells in the Championship and League One. However, he is finally starting to show at Excelsior Rotterdam why so many people at Spurs and in his home country of Ireland are so excited about his promise.
The 21-year-old scored one goal and set up another in the Eredivisie team’s 3-0 win over Heerenveen on Saturday. He now has nine goals and nine assists in 15 league games this season.
Tottenham’s Troy Parrott is getting more attention
Gold has now said that several Serie A and Championship teams are interested in the Republic of Ireland player.
But Parrott is thought to be desperate to prove himself at Spurs. The striker wants to get Ange Postecoglou’s attention after being hurt last summer and not being able to do so.
Gold says that Tottenham is keeping a close eye on the young player’s progress. This season, Andy Scoulding, the club’s head of football strategy, is said to have traveled to the Netherlands five times to watch the scorer play.
The reporter also says that Parrott will stay with Rotterdam until the end of the season. Next summer, Spurs will decide if they want to loan the player out again.
In Our View
There’s a good chance that Postecoglou will want to take a longer look at Parrott. The Australian isn’t afraid to give young players chances if he thinks they’re good enough.
The striker will want to keep up his good form in the Eredivisie so that he can go back to Hotspur Way for pre-season full of confidence.
