Big loss – Disappointment over player’s decision to join Tottenham, teammate thinks he well be missed

David Raum, a defender for RB Leipzig, said he was sad to see Timo Werner go on loan to Tottenham this month and that he will be “a big loss.”

That full-back talked to Sport 1 about what’s going on at the German club and Werner’s exit earlier this month.

Werner chose to leave the German team and go back to the Premier League with Tottenham because he was fed up with not getting enough playing time this season.

He had fallen down the rankings this year and only played in eight games in the Bundesliga, which is 14% of the possible minutes. He played even less in the Champions League.

His return to the club after his disastrous time at Chelsea has not gone as many had hoped. He has not been able to repeat the performances that made people want to pay €53 million to sign him at Stamford Bridge in July 2020.

Even though he had a rough time in England, he hasn’t hesitated to come back to Tottenham, where he hopes to get back on track with some of Ange Postecoglou’s magic.

People have thought that he won’t be missed at Leipzig, but Raum seems to have a very different view.

“This season hasn’t been easy for him.” Also, he was hurt last season, which is something that plays a role, he said.

“But he helped us over and over.” He was always there for everyone, took care of everyone, and made everyone happy. That’s why the cabin lost a lot.

“I wish him the best if that’s what it took to get back to the Premier League.”
