Tottenham to sign 23yr old midfielder more than any, he could be up for sale
Tottenham has reportedly identified Conor Gallagher as their top target for the midfield position, considering a potential sale by Chelsea of the 23-year-old player.
Amidst a busy January for the north London side, they’ve already secured Timo Werner on loan, and Radu Dragusin’s announcement is expected soon.
However, manager Ange Postecoglou might pursue further signings, particularly in the central midfield, contingent on potential sales within Tottenham during January.
According to the Independent, Gallagher is the preferred choice for Tottenham among available midfield options, and Chelsea might be open to selling the player, given his academy status.
Despite Gallagher’s regular role under Mauricio Pochettino and occasional captaincy, his academy background could make him an enticing prospect for Chelsea to part ways with. Tottenham, in turn, could seize this opportunity to sign the English international, with a rumored price tag of £40 million from Chelsea.
Considering Gallagher’s significant contributions to Chelsea this season, selling him in this transfer window would be an unexpected move. Tottenham, however, appears keen to secure his services and could be willing to meet Chelsea’s valuation for the Cobham academy graduate.
While the potential sale by Chelsea might be unconventional, if it materializes, Tottenham aims to position themselves as the frontrunners in acquiring Gallagher, envisioning him as a potential midfield star under Postecoglou.
Should Chelsea indeed make the seemingly irrational decision to sell Gallagher, Spurs could emerge as the club winning the race for the 23-year-old’s signature, marking one of the most surprising transfers in the January window.
