Striker to join Tottenham after rejecting Aston Villa offer
£150k-a-week player Timo Werner has rejected offers from various clubs, including huge Aston Villa offer and Manchester United, to join Tottenham Hotspur, with the official announcement of his arrival expected imminently.
Following the departure of a top-tier striker during the summer transfer window, Ange Postecoglou, the Spurs manager, has yet to reinvest the reported £100 million acquired from the sale.
Despite Richarlison’s recent improvement in goal-scoring form, the Brazilian previously struggled with an injury, prompting the Australian manager to deploy Son Heung-Min in the central striking role.
With the January transfer window underway, Tottenham has swiftly moved to secure the signing of Werner, whose arrival appears to be on the horizon, likely through an initial loan deal until the season’s end, complemented by an option to purchase ranging between €15-20 million, as per David Ornstein’s report.
Football Insider suggests that Werner attracted interest from multiple Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa, yet the German striker opted to join Tottenham.
However, Werner has faced challenges reproducing his prolific goal-scoring performances from his RB Leipzig days since his move to Chelsea, registering only two goals in 14 appearances so far.
As they anticipate Werner’s arrival, Tottenham must prepare for a significant Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford this upcoming weekend.
