Sky pundit reacts to unbelievable Tottenham transfer who loves playing in Midfield

Michael Dawson has come to the defense of Eric Dier amid talks of his potential departure from Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window.

Sources close to the situation revealed to HITC Football that Eric Dier is engaged in discussions with Bayern Munich, hinting at a potential reunion with Harry Kane.

Dier, 29, seems to be out of favor under Ange Postecoglou, signaling a likelihood of his departure from Tottenham in the near future.

Speaking to Sky Sports (06/01/24 at 2:25 pm), Michael Dawson highlighted Dier’s significant service to Spurs while expressing astonishment at the prospect of a move to Bayern Munich.

Arriving at White Hart Lane in 2014 under Mauricio Pochettino, Dier became a pivotal player, adapting to various positions from right-back in his early years to stints in midfield and central defense.

Following the exits of key figures like Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris, it appears another long-serving player could be on his way out of Spurs.

Dawson remarked, “You have to remember how good of a servant he has been to Spurs. It’s just the way that Ange plays. Ange plays with pace and Eric isn’t that kind of player. He has played centre midfield and at right-back. It’s an unbelievable move for him. If you are Ange, you get him off your wage bill.”

Eric Dier’s exclusion from Gareth Southgate’s England squads has been consistent since last season and is likely to persist should he stay at Spurs.

Given Postecoglou’s apparent reluctance to provide him with significant playing time, seeking opportunities elsewhere seems imperative for Dier.

A move to a club like Bayern could potentially rejuvenate his career, possibly leading to a swift return to the England national team setup.

Moreover, the shift would present a higher level of competition, raising the stakes in a team led by Thomas Tuchel, where the expectations encompass not only winning the Bundesliga but also securing European glory.
