Tottenham agree personal terms with star player as search continues

Radu Dragusin, a defender for Genoa, has agreed to personal terms in principle with Tottenham Hotspur, sources have revealed to 90min.

Spurs have set finding a new centre back as their main goal for the January transfer window. They are now searching for one.

Tottenham is reportedly interested in 21-year-old Dragusin, but a deal could not be as simple to close as implied by the Italian media, according to a 90min article earlier this week.

90min has learned from sources that Spurs and Dragusin have come to a wide understanding over personal terms; nevertheless, this was never anticipated to be a sticking point.

The majority of the challenge in closing the deal will come from the transfer price, which Tottenham and Genoa are still negotiating about. Spurs were first informed that a signing cost of around £20 million would have been sufficient to get Dragusin; however, this is not the case, and the Serie A team is demanding a higher amount.

Tottenham is keeping an eye on a number of centre backs, including Dragusin, and will not hesitate to seek other options should they and Genoa be unable to reach an agreement on a price. In the same manner, Tottenham decided not to pursue agreements to recruit Edmond Tapsoba and David Raya in favour of signing Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven during the summer transfer window.

Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice is highly regarded by Spurs, although concerns about a possible transfer cost still exist.

Spurs, who have combed Europe for appropriate choices, are also interested in Ben Godfrey, Tosin Adarabioyo, Lloyd Kelly, and Sebastian Caceres.

A hamstring injury to summer acquisition Van de Ven, who was among the Premier League’s finest center-backs this season until pulling up in November, partially ended Spurs’ season.

Cristian Romero is now out with a similar muscular injury after missing games due to suspension as well.
