Spurs boss Postecoglou focuses on solutions as he battles absentee list

Ange Postecoglou emphasizes that his responsibility is to find solutions, so he thinks there’s no need to focus on being frustrated by Tottenham’s growing list of absences.

Ranked fifth Last week, Spurs defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0, but Yves Bissouma’s second red card of the season meant he ended the game with one player less.

After picking up his fifth booking of the season at the City Ground, Destiny Udogie will miss Saturday’s visit from Everton and the midfielder will serve a four-match suspension.

Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham, is already without James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Micky van de Ven until January. Additionally, attackers Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon have been out since September.

The Australian said on Friday, “I think it is important from my perspective that you don’t deal in the extreme because it is an emotional game.”

There are already enough folks who get worked up about these issues; I don’t need to contribute to that.

“My job in all of this is to ultimately find solutions rather than focus too much on the fallout of any issues we’ve had because I guarantee you once we get all the players back, there will be something else.”

In the previous ten Premier League games, Tottenham has only lost once against Everton; yet, Sean Dyche’s team, who was punished 10 points for breaking financial laws last month, has won seven of their last ten games.

A judicial verdict on Thursday gave fresh life to the notion of a planned European Super League, which prompted Postecoglou to say it was the brainchild of those who are “detached from what this game is all about”.

Six Premier League teams, including Tottenham, agreed to join a breakaway league in 2021, however the plan was abandoned very soon after.

Postecoglou said that the idea was unlikely to materialize since supporters didn’t like it.

“The response it got the first time around is a pretty good indicator of where it sits within the footballing fraternity in general,” he said.

That’s usually a reliable indicator. These ideas, in my opinion, are always carried out in a room with individuals who are sometimes disinterested in the main theme of the game.”
