Potential boost for Spurs as PL rivals may pull out of race for centre-back
The Daily Mail has now learned that Liverpool is reconsidering its pursuit of the Bournemouth star, which may facilitate Tottenham’s pursuit of Lloyd Kelly.
Several sources have speculated since the beginning of November that Spurs may rekindle their interest in Kelly in January after their inability to reach an agreement on the center back during the summer (GiveMeSport).
Ange Postecoglou is reportedly the top target on Australia’s wishlist for a left-sided center back, with many sites reiterating in recent weeks that acquiring one would be his top goal for next month (The Standard). The 25-year-old is one of the players on the Australian’s wishlist.
Kelly’s contract at Vitality Stadium expires in six months, but it seems Spurs won’t be able to sign the defender until the summer of next year after Cherries owner Bill Foley said last week that the player won’t be going anywhere in January (talkSPORT).
Some media outlets have speculated during the last month that Spurs might face competition for the English defender, with teams like Liverpool (Football Insider) and Arsenal (Tuttosport) reportedly keeping an eye on him.
Liverpool could withdraw from the Lloyd Kelly race
But if the Mail’s most recent report is accurate, Liverpool may not pursue Kelly in January or the following summer.
According to the publication, the Reds may prioritize moves for other center-backs since they are unsure whether the Bournemouth star meets the necessary quality.

Given Kelly’s flexibility, Premier League experience, and homegrown status, I do believe Tottenham would be strongly tempted to possibly sign the 25-year-old on a free transfer next summer.
