Postecoglou says Tottenham have a £85k/week talent in their ranks who is on another level

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, called Pedro Porro a “good footballer” with “abundant” talent.

The Spurs manager was chatting to football.london on Friday night before his team’s Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest.

After first joining Spurs on loan from Sporting Lisbon in January, Porro later paid £39 million to become a permanent member of the Lilywhites.

The 24-year-old needed some time to settle in at Tottenham, but he’s now playing at a high level for a Spurs team that Postecoglou has revitalized.

With 15 Premier League games this season, the Spain international has six assists, four of which have come in the previous five Spurs games.

In fact, there’s a rumor circulating that Real Madrid is punishing itself for not trying harder to get Porro and giving the race to Tottenham.

“I never gave Pedro much thought.”

Given that Porro was a player he essentially inherited, Alasdair Gold questioned Postecoglou about how early he realized that the player was ideal for his system.

He said, “He’s a good footballer,” referring to the £85,000-per-week (Spotrac) star. Good football players are what most coaches want to see, they’ll tell you.

“I didn’t see anything there [that was a problem]. Many people have consistently said that, particularly in light of the way I coach my full-backs, I haven’t yet been at a club where the full-backs haven’t adjusted, whether it was at Yokohama or Celtic since I’ve started down this path.

Few people have had difficulty with it. We try to make it as easy as possible for the men in that position in terms of functionality, but I believe that what makes them stand out a little bit is perhaps what surprises people the most.

It’s one thing for me to advise them to go into the places we want them to, but they also need to demonstrate that quality, which they both possess in spades. “Then the quality we have both with Pedro and Destiny, they take it to another level altogether.”

“I never gave Pedro any thought. I believed that we had good coverage on the right side with him and Emerson.

One of Tottenham Hotspur’s main players is Pedro Porro.

Seeing Porro do so well for Tottenham is fantastic. It took him a little time to get used to a new club, league, and nation, but he is now operating at full capacity.

Porro was a member of one of the Premier League’s top defense lines early in the season. Alongside Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven, and Cristian Romero, he was really impressive.

Porro has been performing well even though Tottenham’s back line has had to alter because of injuries and bans, and they are still without the injured Van van Ven.
