Tottenham told they sold one of the best defenders in Europe, now worth £46m
After being traded by Tottenham Hotspur for “one of the most dependable defenders in Europe,” Juan Foyth, a former Premier League misfit for Villarreal, is now a £46 million target for teams like Juventus.
Unfortunately for the Argentina international, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen were there when he played for Tottenham Hotspur. After joining Spurs in 2017, Juan Foyth from Estudiantes seldom had much success, as Spurs had maybe the best center-back duo in England for a large portion of the Mauricio Pochettino era.
And if Foyth was meant to have an opening once Pochettino was fired, it was blocked once again with the hiring of Jose Mourinho. In spite of his denials, Mourinho has never been one to throw inexperienced players right into the deep end, so it was not shocking when Foyth finally left when Villarreal and the London giants agreed on a £13 million deal.
Juan Foyth has shone since leaving Tottenham Hotspur
Because his client is one of the best defenders on the continent right now, the 25-year-old’s agent has persuaded teams like Barcelona and Juventus to express interest in him.
Claudio Curti says Sport Italia, “Juan is without a doubt one of the most reliable defenders in Europe today,” emphasising Foyth’s tactical adaptability and how useful he would have been under current Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.
He is a master at playing three different parts. He is a true professional and a highly complete player. He could demonstrate his abilities and play in Serie A with ease.
Moving in January is not difficult. The release clause (now valued at £46 million) remains. However, we may discuss it with Villarreal in any situation.
A World Cup winner with Argentina
Foyth was a part of the team that won the 2022 World Cup under Lionel Scaloni.
In the winter transfer window, Tottenham hopes to add a new defender to North London; players like Sebastian Cacares, Malick Thiaw, and Japan international Koki Machida are being connected.
A major factor in Postecoglou’s Celtic success has been recruiting Japanese players to Britain, such as Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda, and Reo Hatate.
