Tottenham handed double injury boost ahead of crucial Leeds clash

Tottenham could welcome back two important first-team players for Monday night’s huge Premier League showdown against Leeds United as Roberto De Zerbi’s side continue their battle for survival.

Consecutive away victories over Wolves and Aston Villa have lifted Spurs out of the relegation zone and dramatically improved their chances of staying in the Premier League. According to Opta’s Supercomputer, Tottenham are now favourites to avoid the drop, although De Zerbi knows there is still plenty of work to do.

With West Ham facing league leaders Arsenal on Sunday, Spurs have the chance to create a four-point cushion above the bottom three if they defeat Leeds in north London.

Vicario and Maddison close to returning

Reports suggest goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario could return to the squad after missing De Zerbi’s first four matches in charge while recovering from hernia surgery.

In his absence, Antonín Kinský has impressed between the posts, but Vicario’s experience and leadership could still prove valuable during the final stretch of the season.

James Maddison may also be back in contention. The midfielder has been named on the bench in Tottenham’s last three matches but is yet to feature since returning from injury. A comeback against Leeds now appears possible.

Both players are considered key members of Spurs’ leadership group, and their return would provide an added boost during the club’s relegation fight.

Solanke remains a doubt

There is better news elsewhere for Tottenham, with Micky van de Ven and Rodrigo Bentancur both expected to be fit despite concerns following the win at Aston Villa.

However, uncertainty remains around Dominic Solanke, who is still considered doubtful for Monday’s game.

Cristian Romero, meanwhile, is reportedly unlikely to return before June, meaning the Argentine defender may already have played his final match of the season.

Tottenham are also set to remain without Ben Davies, Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons for the remainder of the campaign due to long-term injuries.

Despite the lengthy injury list, Spurs head into the Leeds fixture with momentum on their side and growing belief under De Zerbi after back-to-back wins away from home.
