Gallagher Praises De Zerbi Influence as Tottenham Boost Survival Hopes

Conor Gallagher has credited Roberto De Zerbi for transforming Tottenham Hotspur after their crucial 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.

The win lifted Spurs out of the relegation zone, with Gallagher highlighting the immediate impact of the Italian coach. Since taking over from Igor Tudor, De Zerbi has guided the team to two wins, one draw, and just one defeat, quickly instilling belief within the squad.

Spurs Dominate Villa with Tactical Display

Tottenham produced one of their most complete performances of the season, overwhelming Villa from the outset. De Zerbi reshaped his attack, bringing in Richarlison and Mathys Tel, a move that paid immediate dividends.

Spurs controlled the first half entirely, registering multiple chances while restricting Villa to none before the break. Gallagher opened the scoring early on, reacting sharply to finish after a loose clearance from Youri Tielemans.

The second goal followed before halftime, as Tel delivered a precise cross for Richarlison to head home between defenders Matty Cash and Victor Lindelöf.

“Every Player Trusts Him”

Named Man of the Match, Gallagher described the performance as exactly what the team needed and praised De Zerbi’s influence behind the scenes.

He explained that the squad has fully embraced the manager’s ideas, adding that the coach has created confidence within the group and is already bringing out the best in the players. According to Gallagher, the connection between De Zerbi and the dressing room has been immediate, with trust and belief growing quickly.

De Zerbi Proud but Focused

De Zerbi himself expressed pride in his team’s display, particularly their intensity both in and out of possession. He acknowledged the quality of Villa, led by Unai Emery, but felt his side were clearly superior for large periods.

Despite the victory, the Spurs boss remains cautious. With three difficult fixtures remaining—starting with a key clash against Leeds United—he has urged his players not to lose sight of how difficult their situation was just weeks ago.

Tottenham now sit just above the drop zone, but their fight for survival is far from over, with matches against top opposition still to come.
