“He’s ready” – Tottenham player lined up for transfer, has improved at Spurs

Guglielmo Vicario’s future at Tottenham Hotspur is suddenly attracting serious attention in Italy, with reports suggesting the goalkeeper could be on the move next summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Vicario is considering leaving London after becoming frustrated with his situation, and Inter Milan have reportedly identified him as a key target for the upcoming transfer window.

The speculation around the 29-year-old has sparked debate about his form and readiness to step into a starting role at one of Serie A’s top clubs.

Italian journalist Enzo Bucchioni, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb Radio, offered a detailed assessment of Vicario’s progress since joining Tottenham.

Bucchioni highlighted how the former Empoli goalkeeper has developed in England, both as a player and as a leader, and suggested he could be a perfect replacement for Inter’s current first-choice, Yann Sommer. “Since he went to England, his performance has improved,” Bucchioni said.

“He’s matured as a goalkeeper. Playing in England is tough because the style of play in the penalty area is different than in Italy, and you have to deal with physically dominant players on a regular basis. That has helped him grow.”

According to Bucchioni, Vicario is keen to return to Italy, and Inter have already made preliminary contact. “Perhaps he wants to come back because his performances have always been strong, and he’s given Tottenham a lot of confidence,” Bucchioni explained.

“I think he’s ready to take on a starting role, and that’s why Inter are interested.” The journalist went further, comparing Vicario’s potential to Sommer, emphasizing the Italian’s agility and sharp reflexes.

“It’s his reactivity that impresses me,” Bucchioni added. “He could be the next Sommer, but with even more quickness. He’s ready to wear Inter’s number one shirt.”

Since joining Tottenham, Vicario has certainly demonstrated noticeable improvement. Under manager Ange Postecoglou, he has grown not just in shot-stopping but also as an active presence on the ball, often acting as a sweeper-keeper and demonstrating leadership in the dressing room.

The Italian’s development has been steady, and his performances have earned praise from both teammates and pundits, showing he can compete at a high level in one of Europe’s toughest leagues.

Vicario’s contract with Tottenham runs until the summer of 2028, which could make any potential transfer complicated. However, if the goalkeeper himself pushes for a move, it could simplify negotiations and increase the likelihood of him securing a high-profile switch back to Serie A.

Inter Milan appear ready to take that step if circumstances allow, and Vicario’s readiness to assume a starting role could make him one of the most intriguing goalkeeper signings of the next transfer window.

In short, Vicario has shown that he is not only capable of performing in England but also that he possesses the skill and mentality to take the next step in his career, making him an exciting option for Inter and a player to watch closely over the coming months.
