Son addresses Tottenham return in January after Kolo Muani injury

Heung-min Son has put an end to rumours suggesting he could make a surprise return to Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.

The former Spurs captain, now playing for Major League Soccer side LAFC, has made it clear that he remains fully committed to his current club and has no plans to leave not temporarily, and not permanently.

After guiding Tottenham to their first major trophy in 17 years last season, Son made a high-profile switch to Los Angeles in the summer.

His move to the MLS was met with both excitement and curiosity, as many fans wondered whether the South Korean star could replicate his Premier League brilliance in the United States. So far, he has done exactly that.

Since his arrival, Son has quickly become one of the standout players in the league, scoring ten goals and providing three assists in just twelve appearances. His performances have helped LAFC remain in strong contention for the MLS Cup, which concludes in December.

Given that the MLS season takes a break between December and February, speculation began to build over the possibility of Son returning to Tottenham on a short-term loan to maintain his fitness during the off-season.

The idea wasn’t far-fetched, as several players before him including global icons Thierry Henry and David Beckham took similar loan spells in Europe during their time in North America.

However, Son has firmly dismissed any such notion, stressing that his loyalty lies with LAFC and that he would never disrespect the club by entertaining transfer rumours.

Speaking to South Korean broadcaster TV Chosun, Son made his stance clear. “I’ve never spoken to any club about a winter move. Such talk is simply untrue,” he said. “For me, showing respect to my club and giving everything where I play that’s what matters most.

That won’t change. I won’t leave LAFC this winter, or ever, while I’m here. I respect this club deeply. As long as I’m wearing this badge, there will be no such thing as a loan or a move. Never.”

Son’s comments put an immediate end to the growing speculation surrounding a temporary Tottenham reunion. His words also reflect his professionalism and deep sense of loyalty traits that have defined his career both in England and now in the United States.

For LAFC, his commitment is a huge boost as they push for the MLS Cup title. For Tottenham fans, however, it marks the end of any hopes of a sentimental return for one of the club’s most beloved modern players, at least in the near future.

While Spurs continue to adapt under their new management and fight for a top-four Premier League finish, Son’s impact in Los Angeles continues to grow.

His leadership, energy, and ability to produce moments of brilliance have made him an instant favorite among LAFC supporters, just as he was adored in north London.

Despite moving thousands of miles away, Son remains a figure of admiration among Tottenham fans. Many still follow his progress in the MLS and celebrate his continued success.

His clear dedication to LAFC, combined with his legacy at Tottenham, only enhances his reputation as one of football’s most respected and humble professionals.

As the MLS season heads toward its climax, Son’s focus is solely on helping LAFC achieve glory. And with his determination and form, few would bet against him adding another trophy to his collection this time on American soil.
