Tottenham Hotspur are facing growing uncertainty over young Czech goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, following reports from journalist Sami Mokbel that have shed light on the club’s current stance.
The question many fans are asking is whether Kinsky could soon replace Guglielmo Vicario as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
This season, Vicario has found himself under fire from sections of the Tottenham fanbase, with criticism over his decision-making and command in crowded areas. While his shot-stopping ability has rarely been questioned, there have been murmurs that Thomas Frank might consider a change between the sticks.
However, earlier reports from TBR Football suggested the new Spurs boss continues to back Vicario and has no immediate plans to drop him from the starting lineup.
Adding further clarity, Sami Mokbel recently provided an update, revealing that Tottenham’s internal view remains largely supportive of the Italian goalkeeper.
According to his sources, Spurs do not see Vicario’s position as under threat and are not planning to sign a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window. Mokbel went on to defend Vicario’s quality, describing him as one of the Premier League’s most capable modern goalkeepers.

He acknowledged that while the Italian has shown moments of vulnerability particularly when the penalty area becomes crowded his overall skill set remains impressive.
Mokbel emphasized Vicario’s composure with the ball at his feet and his reliability as a shot-stopper, qualities that perfectly fit the style of football Tottenham aim to play.
Despite the backing for Vicario, attention has shifted to Antonin Kinsky, the 22-year-old who joined Spurs from Slavia Prague and initially made a strong impression.
Kinsky’s early displays in training and matches under Ange Postecoglou, when Vicario was sidelined with a long-term injury, suggested that he might soon push for a regular place.
However, according to Mokbel’s report, Kinsky’s performances have dipped in recent months, particularly after Vicario’s return to full fitness.
Insiders at the club are said to be concerned by the goalkeeper’s drop in intensity during training. What began as a promising start has reportedly turned into inconsistency, leaving the coaching staff hesitant about promoting him to first-choice status.
Mokbel noted that the previous coaching team under Postecoglou had already raised alarms over Kinsky’s attitude and concentration levels once he lost his place in the lineup.
While some fans continue to call for a change, Tottenham’s hierarchy and coaching staff appear committed to maintaining stability in goal.
Vicario remains trusted, and the club is not currently pursuing a replacement. Kinsky’s potential is still recognized, but the Czech goalkeeper will have to prove his worth once again on the training pitch before earning another opportunity.
At this stage, Tottenham’s goalkeeping situation looks settled, with Vicario firmly holding onto his spot. However, behind the scenes, there’s quiet concern that Kinsky must rediscover his focus if he’s to have a long-term future at the club.
