Tottenham “main man” expected to stay at the club “after Europa final for at least a year”

Recent rumors suggesting James Maddison could leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer appear premature, with former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson confident the playmaker will stay at the club for at least another season.

The 28-year-old has been instrumental since arriving in North London, contributing 12 goals and 10 assists this campaign, making him indispensable to Tottenham’s attacking structure.

Robinson dismissed the speculation, emphasizing that selling Maddison while he recovers from injury would make little financial sense. “They’re not going to sell him when he’s injured,” he told Tottenham News.

“Maddison is a top player, but with a new manager coming in, everything changes. A fresh perspective could reignite his importance to the squad.”

The former England international acknowledged that if a new coach takes over and marginalizes Maddison, conversations about his future might resurface.

However, given his current injury status and Tottenham’s likely high valuation, a summer exit seems improbable. “You won’t get the money Spurs would demand right now,” Robinson added. “I expect him to be here for at least another year.”

While Maddison’s stay looks probable, the same cannot be said for Cristian Romero. The Argentine defender has attracted serious interest from European giants, including Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, as he seeks to add club silverware to his already impressive international honors.

Having won the World Cup and Copa America with Argentina, Romero’s ambitions may outpace Tottenham’s current rebuilding phase, making a summer departure increasingly plausible.

For Spurs, retaining key players like Maddison will be crucial as they aim to reestablish themselves as top-four contenders. Champions League qualification and a strong transfer window could help convince their stars to commit long-term.

However, if Romero departs, it would signal a significant blow to their defensive stability, forcing the club to act decisively in the market.

Ultimately, while Maddison’s future seems secure for now, Tottenham’s ability to compete for major trophies will determine whether they can keep their elite talent beyond next season.

The coming months will be pivotal in shaping the club’s trajectory—both on and off the pitch.
