Journalist reveals how long Cuti Romero will be missing for Spurs

Argentine journalist Gaston Edul has shared a positive update on Cristian Romero’s injury, a relief for Tottenham fans. Concerns were high when Romero left the pitch against Aston Villa, as he rarely exits a game without a serious issue.

Spurs supporters were especially anxious given that Micky van de Ven, his central defensive partner, is already out with a hamstring injury, likely sidelined until after the international break.

However, recent reports suggest that Romero’s injury is less severe than initially feared.

Edul reported on social media that the 26-year-old sustained ligament damage in his right toe, but crucially, there is no fracture.

This means Romero’s injury is milder than expected, with the player set to return within a week to ten days. The timeline suggests Romero might still join the Argentina squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru.

While this is a boost for Romero’s international prospects, it presents a challenge for Spurs’ manager, Ange Postecoglou. Romero’s absence will almost certainly rule him out of Tottenham’s upcoming matches against Galatasaray and Ipswich Town.

However, the timing of the international break brings added complications. Although the Spurs boss would prefer Romero to rest and fully recover at Hotspur Way, the defender’s passion for representing Argentina makes it likely he will push to join his national team, even if not fully fit. This raises the risk of exacerbating his injury if he takes part in the World Cup qualifiers.
