Tottenham now want to sign £8M ace for Postecoglou ahead of Man City match, very similar to Kulusevski

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly locked in a race with Manchester City to sign a promising young forward, a move that would bolster their attacking options under manager Ange Postecoglou.

As the club looks to enhance its depth and maintain its competitive edge, the potential acquisition of this rising talent signals Tottenham’s commitment to continued success in the Premier League.

Dejan Kulusevski has undergone a transformation under Postecoglou’s management, becoming a key figure in Tottenham’s midfield. In their most recent 4-1 victory over West Ham, Kulusevski delivered a man-of-the-match performance, showcasing his adaptability and newfound role.

Previously known as a right-winger, the 24-year-old has been deployed as a box-to-box midfielder this season, a shift that has paid off significantly. With two goals and an assist in his first eight games, Kulusevski has impressed both fans and critics, drawing praise from his manager.

Postecoglou highlighted the midfielder’s strengths, noting his ability to escape tight spaces and his relentless work rate. “He’s a really strong runner, and he never stops. He has the quality we need, especially in the final third,” said the Spurs boss.

Postecoglou also believes that there is even more to come from Kulusevski, expecting more goals and assists as the season progresses. Kulusevski’s defensive contributions were also acknowledged, as he balanced his offensive prowess with solid work in protecting Tottenham’s lead.

Such was his impact during the West Ham match that James Maddison, typically the team’s playmaker, was substituted at halftime, allowing Kulusevski to push further forward with additional support from midfielder Pape Sarr.

At just 21 years old, Moro has already made a significant impression this season, tallying two goals and an assist, which matches Kulusevski’s numbers.

Reports from Spain suggest that both Tottenham and Manchester City are keenly interested in the young forward, with City being one of the most enthusiastic suitors.

Moro’s performances have drawn comparisons to Kulusevski, with FBRef’s statistical tool identifying striking similarities between the two players. Their seasons to date have mirrored each other in terms of offensive output, with comparable numbers in shots on target, ball progression, and defensive work.

A closer look at their stats from the 2024/25 season reveals just how similar the two players are. Both have scored two goals and provided one assist. Kulusevski averages 0.58 shots on target per 90 minutes, while Moro comes close with 0.54.

In terms of shot-creating actions, Kulusevski has a slight edge, with 6.84 per 90 compared to Moro’s 4.29. Defensively, the two are nearly identical, with Moro slightly ahead in tackles and interceptions per 90 (2) compared to Kulusevski (1.88). Even their ability to carry the ball into the final third and win aerial duels is closely matched.

As Tottenham continues to monitor Moro’s development, there is growing speculation that he could be available for around €10 million (approximately £8.5 million) in upcoming transfer windows.

However, as his performances continue to improve, that figure may rise. Should Tottenham decide to move forward with a bid, Moro could provide valuable competition for Kulusevski, while also giving Postecoglou another versatile option in the attacking third.
