Tottenham line up January transfer for LaLiga winger after successful scouting mission

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly eyeing Espanyol winger Javi Puado as Ange Postecoglou plans to bolster his squad during the January transfer window. After a less-than-stellar start to the season, with Spurs currently sitting ninth in the Premier League table, changes seem imminent.

They’ve only managed to win three out of their nine matches so far and recently lost 3-2 to Brighton after squandering a 2-0 lead. As a result, there are reports indicating that new attacking additions could be on the horizon.

Football Transfers claims that Tottenham has set its sights on Puado, a 26-year-old winger from Espanyol, as a potential target for the upcoming winter transfer window.

Puado, a once-capped Spanish international, drew attention from Spurs scouts while they were watching Alejo Veliz, who is currently on loan at Rayo Vallecano, in early September. Since then, the Espanyol winger has continued to impress, scoring three goals in his first eight La Liga appearances this season.

Puado’s current contract with Espanyol expires at the end of the season, which puts Tottenham in a strong position. If he doesn’t sign a new deal before January, Spurs will have the option to open pre-contract negotiations, potentially securing him on a free transfer next summer.

However, Tottenham could also try to take advantage of his contract situation by pursuing a cut-price deal during the January window. Given his current form and contract status, Puado could prove to be an enticing prospect for the North London club.

At the same time, Tottenham is also reportedly interested in Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze. The 26-year-old has been linked with a potential move to Spurs, with recent reports suggesting that the club is expected to make a move for the England international by 2025.

Eze, currently under contract with Crystal Palace until 2027, has a £68 million release clause that will reportedly become active next summer. It’s believed that a bid in the region of £60 million could be enough to lure him away from Selhurst Park, and Tottenham may be one of the clubs willing to match that price.

Eze’s versatility is a key factor in his appeal. He can play as both an attacking midfielder and a left winger, which would allow him to compete with players like James Maddison and Son Heung-min at Tottenham.

With his creative flair and ability to influence games, Eze could be a valuable addition to Postecoglou’s squad. However, any potential move would likely depend on whether Tottenham sees him as a priority target in the future.

In addition to these rumored transfers, there is also speculation about Tottenham’s interest in Torino midfielder Samuele Ricci. The 23-year-old has been in excellent form for Torino recently, earning a regular spot in the Italian national team.

Ricci’s performances have sparked interest from several clubs, with a reported price tag of around £18.4 million. Although Tottenham is not the only club monitoring his situation, his combination of talent and potential makes him a player worth watching as the transfer window approaches.

As January draws nearer, Tottenham’s transfer strategy will become clearer. Whether they prioritize signing Puado, Eze, or Ricci, it’s evident that the club is exploring various options to strengthen the squad.
