Tottenham now inform elite club they’re ready to pay £17M for their “wonderful” winger
Tottenham Hotspur is already strategizing for the 2025 transfer window, with the club prepared to offer £17 million for a prominent international forward.
Under the guidance of technical director Johan Lange, the recruitment team is mapping out potential acquisitions for next year.
This move reflects the proactive approach Spurs is taking to strengthen their squad for the future.
The 2024 summer transfer window saw Tottenham invest heavily in their roster, spending £113 million. Notable additions include Timo Werner on a season-long loan, as well as the signings of young talents such as midfielder Archie Gray, striker Dominic Solanke, and winger Wilson Odobert.
These acquisitions showcase the club’s ambition to secure a balanced mix of experienced players and emerging talent.
One of the most exciting prospects for Tottenham is South Korean forward Yang Min-Hyeok. Head coach Ange Postecoglou sanctioned a buy-to-loan-back deal for the 18-year-old wonderkid, who will remain with his current team, Gangwon FC, until January.
Yang is expected to bring a fresh burst of attacking energy upon his return to Tottenham, with the club eagerly anticipating his arrival.
Asian football expert Joel Kim has praised Yang’s abilities, emphasizing the speed and versatility the young player offers. Kim notes that Yang’s strength, despite his age, allows him to outmaneuver seasoned defenders in the K-League 1.
His adaptability, similar to that of Son Heung-min, enables him to play on either wing, and comparisons to players like Anthony Gordon and Federico Chiesa further underscore his potential.
Yang’s ability to drive forward with the ball, coupled with his defensive awareness, makes him a multifaceted player. His knack for intercepting passes and reading plays adds a defensive element to his otherwise attack-minded game.
While he won’t officially join Postecoglou’s squad until mid-season, his arrival feels like a new signing that will undoubtedly make a significant impact.
Aside from Yang, Tottenham has secured several key signings over the summer:
Player Name | Signed From |
---|---|
Timo Werner | RB Leipzig (loan) |
Dominic Solanke | Bournemouth |
Archie Gray | Leeds |
Wilson Odobert | Burnley |
Lucas Bergvall | Djurgarden |
Min-Hyeok Yang | Gangwon FC |
Another potential addition for next year is Johnny Cardoso from Real Betis. Tottenham holds the first option to sign him, thanks to an agreement that was part of Giovani Lo Celso’s return to Betis.
Additionally, Spurs are reportedly leading the race to sign Lille striker Jonathan David, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the current season. David’s contract situation presents Tottenham with a prime opportunity to bolster their attacking options further.
Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has also weighed in on the club’s transfer strategy, suggesting that the team should prioritize signing another center-back in the January transfer window.
Despite the arrival of Radu Dragusin as defensive cover in the previous January window, Robinson believes the team remains light in this area, and more depth is required.
In addition to their other targets, Tottenham has expressed interest in AC Milan forward Noah Okafor. Reports indicate that the club has informed Milan of their willingness to offer £17 million for the 24-year-old Swiss international.
Okafor, who managed six goals and two assists in Serie A last season, made most of his 28 league appearances as a substitute. Although he has started two of Milan’s first three matches this season, he remains seen as a reserve player under manager Paulo Fonseca.
Tottenham’s pursuit of Okafor aligns with the club’s need for attacking reinforcements for the second half of the 2024/25 season.
His technical abilities, speed, and power make him an attractive option for Spurs as they look to add depth to their attack. Okafor’s former Under-21 coach, Mauro Lustrinelli, spoke highly of the player’s improved mental and physical condition, highlighting his potential to excel when given more consistent playing time.
With these transfer plans already in motion, Tottenham is positioning itself to compete at the highest levels in both domestic and international competitions.
Their proactive approach in identifying young talent and established players demonstrates a clear vision for the future, one that promises exciting developments for the club and its fans.
