Need to be sold €70-80m – Tottenham star player backed for huge transfer and profit

Tottenham Hotspur could be in line to make a significant profit from Radu Drăgușin’s future sale, according to FC Steaua București owner George ‘Gigi’ Becali.

In a recent discussion with Fanatik, Becali emphasized the young Romanian’s potential to command a hefty transfer fee down the line.

Tottenham purchased Drăgușin from Genoa for around €30 million in January, and while his playing time has been limited so far, there’s a belief that his value could rise significantly in the coming years.

At just 22 years old, Drăgușin has only made a few appearances for the North London club. Last season, he played 424 minutes over nine games, and this season, he has featured once.

His inclusion in the starting lineup during Spurs’ 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United earlier this month was largely due to an injury to Micky van de Ven.

Despite these limited opportunities, Drăgușin remains under contract with Tottenham until 2030, giving him plenty of time to develop under manager Ange Postecoglou.

Becali is confident that Drăgușin has the qualities needed to become a top-tier defender in European football.

He believes that Tottenham’s initial investment of €30 million could yield a return of at least double that amount in the future, should the young center-back become a regular in the starting lineup.

Becali referenced his experience with Dennis Man, a former Steaua București player who was sold to Parma in 2021.

Steaua București still retains a percentage of any future sale of Man, and Becali used this as an example of how a player’s value can skyrocket with the right performances and development.

“He [Dennis Man] is a valuable player, of European stature, but €60/70/100m players, those are the ones… Drăgușin was sold for €30m, and I believe he can be sold for €70-80m in the future,” Becali stated.

He went on to praise Drăgușin’s physical attributes, noting that his youth, height, and position as a center-back make him a rare and valuable asset.

For Tottenham, the potential to sell Drăgușin for such a high fee would be a huge financial win. However, this would only be realistic if he were to establish himself as a regular starter and continue to improve under Postecoglou’s management.

While the Romanian defender may not have made a significant impact at Spurs yet, the club’s long-term investment in him could pay off handsomely if his development goes as planned.

The pathway for Drăgușin to become a top player at Tottenham may not be immediate, but his raw talent and physical prowess offer plenty of potential.

If he can earn more minutes and establish himself as a key player in Spurs’ defense, the club could indeed find themselves in a position to sell him for a substantial profit in the future.

The idea of making more than double their initial investment would be a positive outcome for Tottenham, both financially and from a footballing perspective.

As Drăgușin continues to develop, Tottenham fans will be hoping to see more of him in the first team. His progress could determine whether he becomes a valuable long-term player for the club or a profitable asset to sell in the transfer market.

Either way, the future looks bright for Drăgușin, and Spurs may be set to benefit from his potential both on the pitch and in the market.
