Spurs expert want out player who doesn’t have the legs to play Ange ball; Club want him gone forever

Tottenham Hotspur insider Paul O’Keefe has revealed that the club is urgently looking to offload midfielder Giovani Lo Celso. According to O’Keefe, the Argentine international does not fit into manager Ange Postecoglou’s tactical system, prompting the club to seek his departure.

Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, O’Keefe noted that Lo Celso and fellow player Sergio Reguilon are among those Tottenham is eager to sell. O’Keefe emphasized that Lo Celso lacks the physical attributes required for Postecoglou’s high-intensity style of play. He stated:

“Lo Celso and Reguilon will be the two who they are desperately trying to get rid of. Giovani [Lo Celso] they say that he does not have the legs for Ange’s system, so they are prepared to let him out and I think that was quite obvious the way he was a bit-part player. He came on and did a few nice cameos. There is obviously a player there, he is a talented footballer but he doesn’t suit what they want.”

Last season, Lo Celso made only four Premier League starts out of 22 appearances, contributing two goals and two assists. His tenure at Tottenham has been plagued by injuries and limited playing time, which has hindered his ability to make a significant impact on the field.

With his contract approaching its final year, Tottenham views the sale of Lo Celso as an opportunity to free up space in the squad and generate funds for new signings that better align with Postecoglou’s tactical vision. The club aims to bring in players who can contribute more effectively to their campaign and fit seamlessly into the manager’s system.

Postecoglou’s system requires players with high endurance, quick decision-making, and the ability to maintain a high tempo throughout matches. Lo Celso, while talented, does not possess the physical attributes necessary to thrive under this style of play. This mismatch has led to his reduced role in the team and the club’s decision to seek his departure.

As the transfer window progresses, Tottenham will be keen to finalize Lo Celso’s departure. The funds from his sale will be instrumental in acquiring new players who can enhance the team’s performance and adhere to Postecoglou’s tactical demands. This strategic move is crucial for Tottenham to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level.

The club’s proactive approach in the transfer market highlights their commitment to success and their willingness to make tough decisions for the greater good of the team.
