Cristian Romero now give verdicts on Tottenham exit amid Real Madrid transfer calls

Cristian Romero has addressed ongoing rumors about his future at Tottenham Hotspur, amidst interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid. The World Cup and Copa America-winning defender’s potential move has been a hot topic since June, but no concrete offers have been made by the Champions League winners.

Real Madrid reportedly inquired about Romero through his representatives in June. However, they have yet to follow up with a substantial offer. Despite this, Romero remains a crucial part of Ange Postecoglou’s squad, and any significant bid from Real is likely to be rejected by Tottenham.

Romero, who serves as Tottenham’s vice-captain, is under contract until 2027. The 26-year-old defender has become a cornerstone of Tottenham’s defense, especially after forming an impressive partnership with Micky van de Ven.

Despite early disciplinary issues last season, Romero’s performance improved significantly, solidifying his importance to the team.

In an interview with Argentinian TV channel ESPN F90, Romero expressed his dedication to Tottenham and his contentment in North London. He emphasized his respect for the club and dismissed speculation about potential moves.

“I always strive to play at my best. I have a lot of respect for Tottenham. They’ve always given me a lot of support here, so I like playing here. I don’t think about other clubs or their possibilities. I know there’s a lot of talk about a possible move, but I’m calm. At my club, I play differently to the national team, more forward. I still have years left in Europe and I want to see where I can go. Hopefully, this year we can win a title at Tottenham.”

Romero’s commitment is welcome news for Tottenham fans, especially given the team’s struggles when he was unavailable last season. His partnership with Van de Ven has been vital, and his presence in defense is crucial for Postecoglou’s tactical plans.

In addition to maintaining their key players, Tottenham is also active in the transfer market. The club has shown firm interest in signing Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke and is also keeping an eye on Wolves’ Pedro Neto. Meanwhile, AC Milan continues to pursue right-back Emerson Royal.

Tottenham’s defensive lineup could see changes depending on the outcomes of ongoing transfer negotiations. Emerson Royal’s potential departure could pave the way for Djed Spence, who has impressed in pre-season, to become the primary backup for Pedro Porro on the right.

Spence, who had loan spells with Leeds United and Genoa, started at left-back in the recent friendly against Bayern Munich, showcasing his versatility.

Tottenham has also explored other right-back options, including Monaco’s Vanderson and Manchester City’s Issa Kabore. However, Spence’s pre-season form may secure his place in the squad for the upcoming campaign.

Tottenham’s pre-season preparations continue with another match against Bayern Munich on August 10 at home in the Visit Malta Cup. Fans will be eager to see how the team performs and how the squad shapes up ahead of the new Premier League season.

In conclusion, Cristian Romero’s unwavering commitment to Tottenham is a significant boost for the club amid ongoing transfer speculation.

As Tottenham moves through the transfer market and prepares for the upcoming season, Romero’s presence and leadership will be invaluable. With key matches and potential new signings on the horizon, Tottenham is poised for an exciting and competitive season.
