Former scout acknowledges Tottenham Hotspur’s ‘best of both worlds’ deal for £12.6m winger this summer

Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil recently concluded a deal to move to Spanish giants Girona on a loan deal from N17, with the La Liga side holding a buying priority option for his services.

The silky winger has struggled to establish himself at White Hart Lane since his highly anticipated transfer from Sevilla in 2021; however, he hopes he can revamp his career following a return to his home country.

Former Spurs scout Bryan King suggests that the club has made a smart deal and will get the best of both worlds. This comes after Fabrizio Romano’s report suggests that the 23-year-old will extend his contract at N17 before departing for Spain.

The new contract with the player has a £12.6 million buyout clause, and Girona will hold priority over the clause once the loan is concluded.

The former Scouts admit that this is an opportunity for Gil to kickstart his career again, while the club will ensure that they get a significant fee from his sale.

Speaking in an interview with Tottenham News, King said:

“I think Tottenham are covering every angle here. Obviously, Gil isn’t going to be a regular with Ange Postecoglou. Therefore, it seems like Gil and his agents have got a decent deal here.

“There is a new contract, a buy-out clause, it is a good deal for Tottenham and Gil. He will be a regular starter for Girona, but he wouldn’t have been for Spurs. Going to a Champions League club too, Girona have been the surprise package in Spain.

“It is a stepping stone and a chance maybe for Gil to resurrect his career. Spurs have got the best of both worlds here.

“They’ve signed Gil up to a new contract and they won’t lose out on that, it is a good bit of business.
