Tottenham have a 18-year-old prospect who’s the best young midfielder in the world at shooting
And after choosing Postecoglou, who is so adept at helping young players fulfil their potential, Tottenham have only continued their charge in that regard.
Arriving in N17 permanently, Destiny Udogie was immediately pushed to a starring role under his new manager, evidently ready to contribute to success.
Although he’s not quite as young as the names mentioned, Micky van de Ven was also immediately handed the full faith of his manager, which clearly paid dividends.
And that’s likely to be the case with Gray this season too, who already has a strong campaign of Championship football under his belt.
That being said, it’s going to be incredibly interesting to see how ready Lucas Bergvall is deemed immediately – who arrives from Sweden with so much expectation.
Lucas Bergvall gives Tottenham another reason to be excited this season
So far in his senior career, 18-year-old Bergvall has made 59 senior appearances in Sweden – an impressive total for someone his age.
But it’s obviously going to be a significant step up playing in England, a different level of physicality.
That being said, according to CIES Football, Bergvall is certainly showing all the signs that he can succeed in England eventually.
CIES just shared a list of the top 10 under-19 midfielders in the world for shooting – and Bergvall was number one.
Since arriving in north London, Bergvall has already admitted he’s found Tottenham training tough – but has expressed his delight to make this next step.
And perhaps Tottenham fans will now be dreaming of a future midfield combo of Gray and Bergvall – one they may even be treated to in cup competitions this season.
However, in Spurs’ quest to build a collection of some of the best young players in world football, they may now be frustrated.
Bayern Munich have entered ‘advanced talks’ with Desire Doue, a midfielder who is very well thought of by Spurs.
