£50M Tottenham offer never arrived – Dismissed, would likely have been accepted

In mid-June, reports emerged from the UK media claiming that Tottenham Hotspur had made a £50 million offer to sign Take Kubo from Real Sociedad. However, Spanish sources quickly refuted these claims, stating that no such bid had been received by the Basque club.

As the summer progressed, attention turned towards Kubo’s efforts to regain his form after an inconsistent season.

Take Kubo’s 2023-2024 season with Real Sociedad was a mixed bag. The Japanese attacker managed to score seven goals and provide five assists in 41 appearances.

However, his form dipped significantly after returning from the Asia Cup, where he represented Japan. From February to the end of the season, Kubo could only contribute a single goal and assist, raising concerns about his consistency and impact on the pitch.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Kubo has been diligently training over the summer to ensure he is in peak condition for the upcoming season. The publication highlighted Kubo’s commitment to recovering his best form, describing his previous season as one of “contrasts.”

Kubo’s dedication is further evidenced by his decision to forgo participating in the Olympics, focusing instead on his preparations with Real Sociedad.

The alleged £50 million offer from Tottenham, widely reported in the English media, never materialized. Mundo Deportivo emphasized that this supposed bid was a fabrication by the UK press.

Even if such an offer had been made, it might have stood a chance of success given Kubo’s struggles towards the season’s end. Currently, Transfermarkt values Kubo at €50 million, and his contract with Real Sociedad includes a €60 million buyout clause.

Despite the inaccuracies surrounding the £50 million bid, Tottenham’s interest in Kubo is worth noting. The North London club has been active in the transfer market, seeking to bolster their attacking options.

Kubo, with his technical skills and versatility, could potentially fit well into Tottenham’s system, providing depth and creativity in the attacking midfield.

Kubo’s immediate focus remains on regaining his form with Real Sociedad. The 23-year-old is determined to prove his worth and contribute significantly to the team’s success in the upcoming season.

His decision to skip the Olympics underscores his commitment to his club and personal development.

The rumors surrounding Tottenham’s £50 million bid for Take Kubo have been debunked, yet the speculation highlights the player’s potential and the interest he generates in the transfer market.

As Kubo works on improving his game, his future with Real Sociedad and any potential moves will continue to be closely watched. For now, Kubo’s focus is on delivering his best performances for the Basque club, aiming to bounce back from a season of contrasts and establish himself as a key player in La Liga.
