Pep Guardiola raids Tottenham, signs 18-year-old Ange Postecoglou desperately wanted to keep

Tottenham have reportedly lost one of their promising stars to Manchester City with a medical done.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are on the brink of signing former Tottenham Hotspur academy star Han Willhoft-King, according to FootballInsider.

The 18-year-old left Spurs this summer despite Ange Postecoglou’s attempts to keep him at the club, but it has now emerged that he’s one step away from completing a move to the Etihad. The report on footballinsider further adds that King will sign a two-year deal with the Premier League champions once he completes his medical.

King is a versatile midfielder capable of playing defensively or further up the pitch, providing more options to Pep Guardiola if he breaks into the first team. He has made 35 appearances in the Under-18 Premier League for Tottenham, scoring four goals in those games. Tottenham have just signed Archie Gray, who is the same age as King, which may be the reason he decided to move elsewhere in search of a breakthrough.

Spurs started last season on fire but ran out of steam halfway through the campaign when injuries set in and form dipped. This meant that instead of challenging for the Premier League title, they ended up finishing fifth, missing out on the title and a top-four finish that would have brought Champions League football. Instead, they have been left with Europa League football.

In response to what was a challenging campaign, they have terminated Tanguy Ndombele’s contract after he returned from an underwhelming loan spell in Turkey. Long-serving Eric Dier has also left the club, while Timo Werner has earned another 12 months to prove himself, which could lead to a permanent move.
